Inspired by a Taylor Swift Song and Instagram Trend
I Protect The Family
Upon scrolling through Instagram Reels, I came across a video from a social media manager on how-to do a trending Reel using one of Taylor Swift’s most recent songs, “Father Figure”. This creator’s advice is to use the part of the song with the lyrics “I protect the family.” In the caption, the creator instructs to lay “I protect the family by…” as a text on a video, such as a B-roll video, then to explain how you protect your family either as text on the video and/or in the caption.
This trend sparked my interest, so I saved the creator’s video to circle back to later.
I did come back to the video and pondered what I would say. Now, you can talk about protecting your biological family, or you could refer to friends, clients, etc. In my case, I contemplated my literal family — particularly my children.
Let’s just say I went down the rabbit hole and concluded the depths of my answer was better suited in long-form content rather than a 10 second Instagram Reel.
I have a short answer to this and a long-winded answer.
The Short Answer:
I protect my family by breaking generational cycles.
